About the Artist
Rebekah Lowell grew up in a house built by her father surrounded by a field of wildflowers. Charmed by her grandfathers stories of his time spent outside, she learned how to spin narratives from nature. This love of nature and art bloomed into a career as an author/illustrator and surface pattern designer. When not in her studio, you can find her outsidegardening, nature journaling, birding, and of course, raising butterflies often with her daughters.
As a survivor of domestic abuse, shes found comfort in art and the natural world, and especially in raising monarchs and creating artwork inspired by them. Her debut novel in verse, THE ROAD TO AFTER (Nancy Paulsen Books) offers a story of healing from trauma, and her debut picture book CATCHING FLIGHT (Doubleday Books for Young Readers) provides hope on the wings of birds.
Rebekah has a BFA in Illustration, an MFA in Childrens Literature and Illustration, and is currently studying Natural Science Illustration.
